Celebration of the "National Migration Day"

On this day in 1961, as Algeria was in the final stages of its struggle for independence, thousands of members of our community went down to the streets of Paris to peacefully express their rejection of the discriminatory measures imposed upon them. However, they were met with a particularly brutal response, and although dozens of victims fell during this event, their message was successfully conveyed: Algerians abroad were not on the margins of their homeland's struggle.
This is why the Embassy of Algeria in Santiago commemorates this 65th anniversary today, coinciding with "National Migration Day" to pay tribute to a generation of workers and activists who carried their country's cause with them wherever they went, and to reassure the members of our community that the State remains close to them and attentive to their concerns.
May God bless the martyrs, and glory and eternity to our glorious revolution.
