Legalization of public documents

Legalization of public documents

Following the entry into force in Algeria, as of July 9th, 2026, of the Hague Convention of October 1961 (Apostille Convention), public documents issued by several ministerial departments will no longer be subject to traditional consular legalization requirements when intended for use in the State parties to the Convention.

This measure applies to documents issued by the Ministries of the Interior, Local Communities, and Transport; Justice; Higher Education and Scientific Research; National Education; and Vocational Education and Training.

Citizens may submit an "apostille" application through the dedicated national platform available at the link: apostille.gov.dz, which is accessible starting July 9th, or by directly contacting the competent services of the mentionned ministerial departments, tax offices, or Algérie Poste desks authorized to issue this certificate.
